Earlier this year, the Archdiocese of New York’s Office of the Superintendent of Schools announced that, despite our continued efforts to sustain St. Peter’s Regional School, it was determined that the school would cease operations at the end of this academic year.

Please read below for two important updates:

  1. St. Peter’s Regional School will remain open for Pre-K and Kindergarten students for the 2017-18 school year. In light of the persistent demand for Pre-K to Kindergarten education in the community, the Office of the Superintendent is pleased to announce that we have crafted a long-term plan to maintain St. Peter’s Regional School as an early childhood center serving Pre-K and Kindergarten students, beginning next school year (2017-18).   2. We will continue to work with our 1st to 4th Grade Families as they transition to Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown or other Catholic Schools. Your child(ren) can continue receiving a quality Catholic education. The Archdiocese will provide families with support, to transition students to Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, New York. You may also consider any of the additional Catholic schools listed below, if you live or work nearby.

  • Families enrolling a child or children in Pre-K or Kindergarten at St. Peter’s Regional School: you must submit a new application and register at St. Peter’s Regional School for the 2017-18 school year to hold a seat for their child(ren).   • Transferring Families enrolling a child or children entering Grades 1-5 and who are transferring to another school: once you have selected the school where you would want to send your children, simply visit http://www.ApplyCatholicSchoolsNY.org and submit your application.
  • Transferring families will be required to submit a new application and register at the new school for the 2017-18 school year to hold a seat for their child(ren) at the new school.
  • Transferring families will also have a chance to apply for financial assistance as part of this new application, however, if you currently have a scholarship, this will carry with you to the new Catholic school of your choice.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TRANSFERRING FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN ENTERING GRADES 1-5 FOR THE 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAR:

The Archdiocese will make every effort to minimize the financial impact to transferring families as a result of the transfer to a new school.

In participating schools, the Archdiocese of New York is offering financial assistance, scholarships and/or a special transfer grant, if the total cost of tuition and fees (net of scholarships and financial aid) at a new school you choose is higher than the tuition and fees (adjusted for annual inflation) you are currently paying at St. Peter’s Regional School.

Specifically, the Archdiocese of New York will be providing to transferring families:

  • A Registration Fee Credit: Families will be required to pay a registration fee per child up front to secure their seat in the new school. This fee will be credited towards the student’s first tuition payment in SMART Tuition; and
  • A Special Transfer Grant: Students in families who transfer from St. Peter’s Regional School to a participating Catholic School will receive Financial Aid and/or a Transfer Grant in all cases where the new school’s 2017-18 total tuition and fees are higher than they would have been at St. Peter’s Regional School.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING MATERIAL CAREFULLY, TO ENSURE A SMOOTH TRANSFER:

All students entering Grades 1-5 in the 2017-18 School Year must transfer from St. Peter’s Regional School to another school.

Transferring families will be required to submit a new application and register at the new school for the 2017-18 school year to hold a seat for their child(ren) at the new school.

Transferring families will also have a chance to apply for financial assistance as part of this new application, however, if you currently have a scholarship, this will carry with you to the new Catholic school of your choice
